Mouth mirrors are also called dental mirrors. They are used to examine the oral cavity and the patient's teeth. Mouth mirrors consist of a handle and a mirror that can usually be removed. The number of the mirror represents the size of the mirror head. Commonly used sizes #4 and #5

Functions

• To provide indirect vision
• To retract lips, cheeks, and tongue
• To reflect light into the mouth

Practice Note - Mouth Mirror is used on most tray setups. Must be cleaned, bagged in a tray setup, and then sterilized. A chemical/steam indicator device should be included in the wrapping.
