Surgical Cap Protects Staff Against Radiation

Our mesh top and pocket on the sides for the RADPAD Shields cap can protect your brain, your most important organ. The cap's width can be easily adjusted with a rear-adjustable drawstring.

Our caps are made from premium cotton fabrics for comfort and long wear. They are entirely lined (ash gray) with no exposed seams. The seams are reinforced.

It is designed to sit above the ear and cover the forehead. 4” height is made for men with longer hair or women with shorter hair to be tucked up inside the cap. It is designed for full forehead coverage, sitting at the eyebrow and over the ear.

Radiologists and technologists involved in interventional procedures are chronically exposed to ionizing radiation. Irradiation of the cranium, even at low doses, can increase the incidence of all cerebral neoplasms, including meningioma. A 2013 study identified 31 interventionalists who developed brain cancer and found that 85 percent of cases were left-sided tumours - the physician’s left side is typically closer to the radiation source during interventional procedures.

The study results show that disposable/reusable surgical caps with RADPAD Shields can significantly reduce or completely negate the amount of radiation the cranium is exposed to in an interventional setting.
